Patrol Notebook

One item that will be extremely useful once you have finished the academy is the Patrol Notebook. This is not any kind of official document. It is more of a self made reference guidebook. Over the course of BLET you will find a lot of information that might be helpful in your career. This information should be filed in your Patrol Notebook. The list that follows is by no means an all inclusive list:
Maps of your area
The section in Field Notetaking and Report Writing on describing persons and items.
The 10 codes from Radio Procdures
A list of telephone numbers
A call sign list for officers in other departments. These also include officers telephone numbers.
Checklists.
Vehicle inspection checklists
Etc.

Once you are in the field you can keep this in your car, briefcase, or gear bag so that you always have it.
