Yesterday I introduced you to drill. Here are just a few reminders.
1. When receiving the command Forward, March all cadets will respond with "And, Step". Remember to start moving your left foot when you say "And". Your left heel should be striking the ground when you say "Step".
2. When you receive the command, Platoon, halt. All cadets will respond with, Step, stop.
3. When you receive the command, Cover. All cadets will respond with, Short, choppy steps sir.
I will introduce more and more drill over the next few months.
I have included a link to the Drill Pad. This has a lot of information on DRill and Ceremonies. We use the Air Force versions with a few modifications.

Why do we practice drill? You will never use it once you leave the academy. There are several reasons.
1. Drill instills teamwork. Everyone has to work together, or the formation looks like a goat rope.
2. Drill instill discipline. If a member is not paying attention, or does not learn the drill movements, then it will be apparent to the Drill Instructor.
3. Drill gives us a way to move from one point to another in an organized manner.
4. Drill helps instill a feeling of professional pride. It feels good to march together knowing that everyone knows their job and can do what they are supposed to do upon immediate command.
Make sure you read this all the way. You may be asked questions at formation
